Cardboard house -

I decorated this little cardboard house with Dream Street Papers in the Mairzy Doats line and my favorite sparkle paper - Doodlebug Design Bon Bon Sugar Coated Cardstock!!! (LOVE that sparkle paper!!) The roof was a lot of punching!!! I used the Fiskars Threading Water Punch and punched the edges of the paper and then cut into 1/2" strips. I did the back first (cause it is easiest) and then showed my youngest son, Caleb. He said, "That's looks really nice but now you have to do the front and that looks much harder." Truer words were never spoken. Funnily, my own roof was being replaced at the same time and I am much happier to be inside punching paper than outside in the cold/wind nailing on an actual roof!
BTW - Shae Otto took my Copic class last week and wrote me up on her blog - It's Great to Be Here. Thanks for the nice comments, Shae!! You made me blush!

I must be crazy!!!

Never - I repeat NEVER should I book three classes within 4 days again - Don't know what I was thinking - We had a blast though! I taught the A Musing Fun Folds class on Wednesday afternoon and Friday evening. Here are the pics from those two classes -

THEN on Saturday afternoon I taught my second Intro to Copics class. I love seeing people get so excited about the potential uses for these great markers!

Wheely Girl

This card is CASEd off a card that JulieHRR taught us in Seattle. The original card featured Vespa Girl on a pink Vespa with the city in the background. Super cute but maybe not just right for rural Kentucky, so I've adapted it to look more like our part of the world. This card is part of the A Musing Fun Folds class that I will teach Wednesday and Friday of this week. Hope to see you there - -
Stamps - A Muse 2-6071E Wheely girl, 9-8230C Road to friend, 2-TRE1SM Trees 1 set (clear stamps)
Ink - Momento Dye in and Rich Cocoa
Paper - A Muse Madeira Green paper
Accessories - A Muse Stitched Black Ribbon, Copic and Spica markers

Sneak Peek - Fun Folds Class!!

Next week I will be teaching the A Musing Fun Folds class - This is one of the cards that we will make - A POP-UP card - so easy to do and so fun!!! I really wanted to use "hi!" on the inside of my card but was struggling to decide what to put on the front - Corey (my husband) looked through my stamps and thought it would be funny if the bird was talking to the caterpillar - don't know how funny the caterpillar thinks it is as he is most likely about to be eaten!!!
Stamps - A Muse 2-4115D Branch, 2-4124B Song bird, 7-4072B Caterpillar, 9-8248B Just saying hello, Polka Dot Letters - lower case small (acrylic set)
Ink - Momento Dye in Tuxedo Black and Brown
Paper - A Muse Square Lime Peel notecard
Accessories - Copic Markers, 1 3/4" circle punch, 2" scalloped circle punch

Teacher Gifts -

I've been a fan of JustRite Stampers for a long time now - I bought my first monogram kit back in 2006 and have made dozens and dozens of monogrammed notecards as gifts since then. Here are some pics of some teacher gifts I made a couple months back -

I'm loving that they offer the alphabets in so many different fonts and sizes now - these sets of cards feature the BRAYTON font. Justrite Stampers is getting ready to introduce lower case fonts soon - I can't wait!!

I have featured the monogram kit in two past classes at Serendipity but it has been a long time since I've had another. I'm pretty excited about what I am working on for my March class - We will be using Nestabilities, Cuttlebug folders and, of course, the JustRite Stampers kits to make monogrammed notecards and a case to hold them.
Kim has loads of JustRite Stampers merchandise at the store - Since they've become so popular there are more and more items being introduced all the time - Come to Serendipity and add to your collection -
P.S. Megan's Name Frame is featured on the JustRite Stampers Design Gallery - you may have seen it at the shop!

The Show must go on!!!

Despite the fact that I had no power last week (I am happy to report we got our power late Wednesday night after 8 days without!!!) there were still 7 brave ladies that were willing to face the cold/snow/ice to take my first Copic class last Saturday on 1/31/09! We had a blast - they were all so patient although no power means no handouts!!

ICE STORM 2009!!!

Well - I am typing at my mom's house - we are without power for the 7th day in a row - the ice storm knocked the power box off our house last Tuesday night. We had ice on Tuesday but it was "warm and cuddly - pretty" ice! Then came the UGLY ice!! That night we watched/heard 100's of frozen branches and trees crash down in the neighborhood around us. We, fortunately, have a gas log fireplace in the family room and a gas stovetop and water heater so we are keeping clean and eating. The power is slowly turning on around us - our neighborhood is still dark! The boys started back to school today -
Back in September when we lost loads of shingles on our roof (Hurricane Ike) there were power outages for several days - 200 power poles were knocked down in that storm - THIS storm knocked down 2,000 poles! It will be some time before everything is back to normal - 19,000 of the 26,000 customers of OMU were out of power at one time!
Gotta dash - can't tell you how nice it was to feel a keyboard under my fingers (even if for just a few minutes)!!
